Bon Jovi's music sounds like other iconic '80s figures. Guitar riffs, heavy drumming, and epic guitar solos were all the rage. But, like any other great music artist, Bon Jovi has his own style. I listen to his "Greatest Hits" album all the time, and though his songs sound different, some songs have a very distinct country vibe along with the rock music. Jon Bon Jovi almost sounds like someone off of a country-music radio station. But the lyrics themselves definitely have a similar style. His songs are often about acting for change and standing up for yourself. Take "Livin' on a Prayer": a couple is struggling, but they're working to get out of that struggle. "We Weren't Born to Follow" is exactly what it sounds like; we aren't born to be followers. "... You gotta stand up for what you believe." "It's My Life": "I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd; you're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud... I just wanna live while I'm alive." Bon Jovi's music definitely has that heavy rock that was all the rage in the '80s, but he was able to make his music stand out as his own with his lyrics and blend of the country and rock genres. If you are definitely not a fan of '80s rock music or country, I don't recommend listening to Bon Jovi. That said, I think the band does have good music. I recommend listening to one or two of his songs to at least give you a feel for him and his style.
