Emma Weinheimer: My favorite summer memory is my family and I going to a local ice cream shop. we almost always get the same thing, and the line is always up against the curb. But I love to sit in our van's trunk. Last year six of us were able to fit across. It was like being in a tin of sardines, but we were all just laughing and having a blast on a warm summer's evening.
Fatima Dadou: My favorite summer memories are always of spending time with family and friends on beach. The most recent beautiful memory I have was one day when my older brother, cousin, and I went to the beach and spent the entire day there. It was one of those gorgeous summer days where you could feel the sunshine kiss your cheeks, rub your hands in the warm sand, and the sky was a clear blue. It was the most beautiful day I have ever seen in my life plus we had so much fun!
Tori: One of my most memorable summers was the trip I took to Colorado. Over about a week, my family (including the guinea pig) visited plains, sand dunes, mountains and forests. The best part was the birds; I saw so many new species such as Mountain Chickadees, Mountain Bluebirds, Pinyon Jays, Violet-green Swallows (with babies!), Yellow-headed Blackbirds and more.
Mr. O'Bryan: My favorite summer memory is of a time when I was a wee lad and I was playing baseball ith my friends and I got to be the pitcher. We used a hardball. My friend made me pitch to him from about six feet away so he could hit the ball. So I pitched and he hit it and I saw the ball coming right at my forehead and then......wait I don't remember what happened after that.
Raquel Martinez: It was 2012 and I had just experienced my best summer vacation. I had spend a month in a boarding school in Germany, learning the language, the culture, and meeting students from hundreds of countries. The abundance of languages, cultures, and people in the school itself was a shock to me, and I had my eyes opened to how varied the world really is. It might seem strange, out of all my summers my favorite was full of school and strict classes, but the experience was much more than that, and there, thousands of miles away from home, I had more fun than I knew was possible.
Muhammad Khwaja: My favorite summer vacation memory would have to be when we, my family and I, went to the beach in Florida. It was the perfect time to go, there weren't many people there so there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the beauty of the beaches. The best part was that our hotel had an amazing view of the ocean since we were on the 13th floor. There was a really cool wind coming in from the ocean, which was nice since it was summer time, and since there was a really big storm coming, we got to see the waves grow bigger and bigger as it got closer.
Joshua Burke : One of my favorite summer memories was on my 15th birthday. We had just gotten back to the States (Washington State to be precise) in 2015 and I was SUPER excited to finally be back “home”. So for my birthday we drove out to Paine field and I got to be in (and fly) a T-6 Texan WW2 vintage aircraft! Besides from it being extraordinary, we also did a spin that took my breath away! I still remember how beautiful the islands were and how small everyone was.
