Being a vegetarian has not been easy at times, such as when our family goes to a seafood or steakhouse restaurant. It is definitely harder to find options on the menu suitable for my vegetarianism. While I liked the taste of meat, there are substitutes grown from soy that taste very similar. I don't eat any fish, either. A person who does not eat red meat but instead eats fish is called a pescatarian, like my sister. As for protein, the soy in many meat-free dishes has a decent amount as well. Even though I am a vegetarian, I happen to love dairy. Cheese has been a favorite food of mine for a while.
It was probably my mother that helped me to become a vegetarian. She had always been one for healthy foods and green smoothies and all that, and she had also become vegan not that long ago. I was looking through her cookbooks one day, and I read an article on just how many animals were slaughtered for food. I decided to do my part for the planet and go vegetarian.
For the most part, my peers don't mind me being vegetarian. Nowadays, it is becoming more and more common. I even have a few friends who share this trait. Maybe one day, you too will become vegetarian.
